Binge Eating Disorder Therapy
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a very good option for Binge eating disorder therapy. The basic theory behind CBT is that our thoughts cause our emotions and behaviors. The focus is put on helping you change the thoughts that are not supporting you to be healthy.

Photo by Saffrodite The loop hole is that you must take an active role in this; you cannot expect to go to counseling forever. You cannot be "fixed" with little or no effort on your part. It takes commitment and a lot of soul searching. Having a therapist is just for guidance. You are the one who is ultimately in control of your life. CBT teaches you self counseling skills that you can use the rest of your life. It is up to you to make use of what you learn. It may take some time to find the right therapist. Don't be afraid of interviewing different therapists to find your perfect match. You are worth finding a way to overcome binge eating. There are data bases online that you can search for a therapist in your area (there is link at the bottom of the page to one of the data bases). Unfortunately therapists that have experience with binge eating disorder are few and far between. But if this is what you need, then don't be discouraged by that. If you are like me, living in a rural community, face to face counseling may not be an option. But also like me, there is a way around it. Some therapists also do phone counseling, which could be an option. Or you could find an online program that you can do from your own home.
