First Step

by Brad

This is a struggle I've had for a long time, I need to know what my first step should be. I feel like I can't do it because my concern is that I will be really motivated for a week or so but when that urge comes on it seems very helpless.

ANSWER

The first step is being willing to feel uncomfortable.

You will get urges to eat when you're not hungry. The key is to get under the reason you wanted to eat. What emotion were you trying to escape? What were you thinking about? Are you just bored?

Once you get the reason why you wanted to eat, ask yourself, "What can I do to fill this need?"

If you wanted to eat because you didn't want to feel lonely... then maybe your could call friend, or make a new friend. If you were thinking about an ongoing problem that causes you stress, then brainstorm ideas to solve it. If you are bored... then maybe you need to ignite your passion for what you love doing.

Ultimately the first step is to become willing.
Even it means feeling and exploring your thoughts and beliefs when it seems hard.

All my Best,

Stefanie
