Writing is a good way to get to know more about yourself. It can shed light on the reasons you have turned to food in the first place. When you eat food in response to emotions; if stuffs them down. The emotions then become suppressed and sometimes lost deep with yourself. But when you take those thoughts and put them down on paper; something magical happens. You have now released it instead of bottling it up into an emotional poison. Writing puts your thoughts and emotions in a tangible form that you can see. Journal writing.
- Identify Negative thoughts and/or beliefs.
From journal writing you will be able to see the thoughts that you have on a regular basis. Especially when it comes to the moments of emotional eating. Take those thoughts and compile them into a list. *If when you look back through your journal your negative thoughts aren't clear you can: - Take a 1-2 days and write down any negative thought that comes.
- Or you can sit down and brainstorm about the negative thoughts that do usually come to your mind. Create a list of negative thoughts that recur often.
Have a list of 10 negative thoughts ready for the next step. - Replace with Positive thoughts and/or beliefs.
Write your list of negative thoughts on the left hand side of a piece of paper. On the right hand side; you are now going to create your positive thoughts. Here are some examples: - I'm worthless. -- I am worthwhile.
- I'm a failure. -- I am a success.
- I never do anything right. -- I always do my best.
- I'll always be fat. -- My body is becoming healthy and trim.
- I'm not good enough. -- I am more than enough.

After going through this process you may begin to have thoughts of actions you should take. Follow that inspiration! After all... all the positive talk in the world doesn't make a difference unless action is taken.
