I need your help
I have been severely anorexic for about 2 years. Eventually I developed an ok relationship with food, with the help of a nutritionist. But all this time I was still very thin. I am now about 4 years later and I suddenly began binge eating.
This was so frightening for me, because I have always had such control when it came to food. The binges have caused me to gain about 10 lbs. in the last year and I feel so so awful. As much as I try and my strongest resolutions don't seem to help. I am at my wits end. I don't want to end up gaining more and more weight and as many times as I have made strong resolutions to change I never actually stuck to it. Can you help me get out of this rut?
ANSWER
It is VERY common for those who have experienced anorexia to swing to the other extreme with binge eating, bulimia, or disordered eating.
If this is happening to you then you can know that the underlying driving force has not been fully addressed.
Its really not about the food at all. Its about what the food is doing for you.
Take the time when you want to binge to write... write your heart out. See what is bugging you, whats on your mind, what part of your life is out of balance.
When you begin to see a pattern, or have some realizations.... you can begin to make an action plan of what you need.
Listen to your intuition.... make sure you are giving your body regular nutritious foods. Keep in mind that another reason for binges can be because you may be deficient of a certain nutrient. Focus on eating a variety of whole, natural foods to make sure you are getting the nutrients you need. That will ensure you are not binging because of a physical need for a nutrient.
I hope this helps you get out of your rut!
Sending my support your way...
All my Best,
Stefanie
