Just starting with a Journal for my binge eating
by Margaux

I have talked to a family friend and my school nurse, and my therapist, they have all agreed on my "diagnosis" as binge eating.
I am being told to keep a journal, and, I used to keep a journal, but I don't know why, but it seems harder for me to start this. I may be over thinking it.
I just saw your video on Youtube, and it did help, but if you have any other suggestions or tips to help, that would be awesome.
Thanks.

If you are having a hard time starting your journal, then you probably are over thinking it. Just relax and do what flows naturally. After a while you'll get the hang of it.
Take some time and look over this page and its corresponding links:
One thing that helped me when I felt stuck was writing with my non-dominant hand. This helps you to "by pass" your logical mind and allows you to write what is under the surface.
After you're done "venting" - make sure you look it over and find beliefs and thoughts that are not serving you. Find as many flaws in your negative thinking as possible... this allow you to weaken the hold they have.
At this point you can come up with beliefs and thoughts that you would rather have. Ones that will support what you want. After you've done this find at least three reasons these new beliefs and thoughts are true.
I hope this helps you get started. Let me know how it works for you.
All my Best,
Stefanie
