How can Meditation Decrease Binge Eating?

Meditation is simple. So simple in fact that it is overlooked by many. But the fact remains that it brings something into your life that otherwise would stay out of your reach.

The biggest benefit is being able to silence your "mental chatter". It is constantly going... always giving you a "piece of your own mind". It can generally sound a bit like this:

  • "You'll never be able change."
  • "How can I keep this up."
  • "Why are you even trying... just give up already."
  • "You'll only prove me right when you FAIL."

What happens when the mental chatter is quieted? What do you have left?

Clarity! And when you have clarity, you are far less likely to binge. (Or use any other negative coping mechanism for that matter.)

Whether you use guided meditation, deep breathing exercises, mantra mediation, alone in a quiet room, or relaxation techniques.... it doesn't really matter. Whatever works for YOU.

The key is to STOP the chatter; so that you can have those moments of clarity that allow you to hear the real you; the part of you that ALWAYS leads you toward peace and joy.

When you have the LOUD mental chatter; you simply cannot hear the voice that provides the guidance you need. It drowns out your higher self.

Allow that mental chatter to drift away... and answers that seemed to be elusive will appear in crystal clear clarity.

When you are in tune with your higher self... the desire to binge IS NOT THERE. It is when we get caught up in our busy lives and our own negative thinking that we seek solace in food.

Just like anything else... it takes some discipline at first to develop the habit of meditation. But it is time well spent!
