Too busy
I am currently a mom of four, ages 10 months, 7, 8, and 9. I coach two volleyball teams, and I am the assistant principal at a school. I am in grad school taking two classes. I eat to keep going. I eat to relieve stress. I have had gastric banding, but I have had complications with that too and now just binge on things that go down easily.
I don't know how to get out of all of my commitments. I do not remember what it is like not to be soooo busy...But I have a feeling that my schedule contributes to my eating.
What do you think?
ANSWER
I firmly believe that we all know what the solutions are to our problems...its just that we get caught up in the 'fog' of life and forget that we are the only ones that know what we need to. We can reach out for guidance; but ultimately we are the only ones that can use our intuition and take action on what feels right.
That being said I'd like to ask you a few questions to help you get clear about what you need:
- Do you feel that your commitments are the problem?
- Or is the way you handle stress the real problem?
- If you were to say no to all the things you are currently committed to... would your binging stop or continue for other reasons?
- What feels right to you? (not necessarily 'good'- but right)
Use your intuition. Take the time you need to figure out if you need to cut back on your commitments or if you just need to learn how to deal with the stress in a positive way. What do I think? Yes, having a hectic schedule can contribute to lousy nutrition; but in the end its just an excuse. If you plan ahead and are prepared you can eat healthy no matter how busy you are.
Trust yourself. Take courage and know that YOU can be the one who calls the shots in regards to your health and your life.
All my Best,
Stefanie
